The Alma Accent XL is an advanced weapon for fighting skin laxity, localized fat deposits and cellulite. This revolutionary skin tightening and body reshaping regimen uses controlled heat to treat wrinkles and lax skin (as well as to reduce subcutaneous fat, thus resulting in a decrease in body size and shape) without surgery.
The Accent XL uses two types (unipolar and bipolar) of non-invasive radio frequency energy (safe for all skin types and colors) to produce smoother, tighter, more toned and youthful appearing skin and improved 0 body shape. Unipolar radio frequency penetrates 15-20 mm to the deep layers of the skin and subcutaneous fat tightening and compacting these layers, while bipolar energy penetrates more superficially, contracting collagen and stimulating increased production of this substance.

Please understand that skin tightening and reshaping with Accent XL is NOT a face lift, liposuction or other surgery, and thus will probably not yield comparable results. Accent XL involves a series of treatments, generally three to six depending upon the condition treated, and in general, the magnitude of the final result will be related to the number of treatments. Skin tightening and reshaping with Accent XL should be considered by those who, for various reasons, do not wish to undergo surgery, i.e., it is an ALTERNATIVE to surgery and in general, will be more valuable for younger patients or those with smaller problems that can be improved without surgery.(It is also valuable for patients who have previously undergone surgery but desire some additional tightening or reshaping.)
Importantly, no “bridges are burned” by undergoing Accent XL; more definitive surgery can always be performed later if desired. Again, please understand that the more Accent XL treatments that you undergo, the better the result will be, even though you should see some improvement after each treatment.

Pixel, FotoFacial and other machine based treatments are used for problems that differ from those that can also be treated with surgery. In general there are 2 categories of facial rejuvenation: 1) sagging and redundant skin that is treated by surgery ( or Accent XL) and 2) problems related to the skin surface, i.e., the complexion – fine wrinkling, loss of skin smoothness, radiance or glow and red or brown discolorations, or other conditions related to sun damage or aging. These later conditions cannot be improved by surgery, the only alternatives being, creams, chemical peels or machine based treatment. Currently the Pixel fractional laser is perhaps the most advanced and effective machine for such treatment.
Harmony Pixel Laser is a modern, minimally invasive method for skin resurfacing. Pixel is a new generation of fractional laser resurfacing (the popular Fraxel was the first) that helps to improve skin texture, tone and firmness; smoothes wrinkles; and reduces pore size, scars (including acne scars) and brown discolorations without the downtime and discomfort associated with other resurfacing lasers.
Pixel skin resurfacing is based on the principle of microthermal treatment zones. The laser pulses create tiny ablative columns 1.5-2 mm deep, removing the epidermis and upper dermis from these “micro-holes.” This heating and microablation triggers the body’s natural healing process, stimulating the growth of new, more youthful skin tissue that replaces pre-treatment imperfections.
In addition, unlike some other fractional lasers (i.e. Fraxel), Pixel requires no topical anesthetic or messy dyes, therefore reducing the risk of a bronzing or tattooing effect.
Areas that benefit from Pixel include the face, neck, chest, hands and arms. Generally, treatment involves two to four sessions, at four week intervals. There is little or no discomfort during the treatment. Most commonly, clients feel some slight warmth with the pulse of the laser. Patients experience a sunburn-like sensation afterward (three to four hours) that is easily neutralized with a gentle moisturizer. Makeup can be applied immediately afterward. Some flaking will be experienced for one or two days with full recovery in about five days. The skin will look better within days following the treatment, and results steadily improve over the next few months.
